Summing it Up!

Thus far, my experience as a blogger has been really great, and very helpful in promoting myself. I think the iMovie was a very effective tool during this process. I enjoyed learning the program and plan to continue to gain more skills in videography.

I think all tools were very useful during the blogging experience. Using twitter in collaboration with the blog, has been really beneficial to gaining a stronger following. I think twitter is especially unique, because it can be just your thoughts and words, it can be personal or more objective.

These tools can absolutely be used in the future! Studying mass communications, and the Fundamentals of digital and online media, has allowed me to brand myself in a whole new way. Using social media to get across a message, my message, to take care of your self, is my ultimate goal! What I have learned, I will take with me forever and continue to perfect it, just like my practice. There is always room for improvement!

Keep On Keepin’ On

As a beginner in yoga, I have learned so much, but have a great deal of knowledge to still obtain. Learning more about the practice and the benefits yoga can bring is so important to acknowledge. Yoga is more than just fitness, it’s an experience, and even a lifestyle.

When I began the practice I immediately felt stronger, more energized, and aware. The combination of yoga and meditation is a great practice to begin. Even if you have never done yoga, or tried meditation, it’s not too late! I began my practice about a year ago, and I am so glad I gave it a try!

The key to the  practice is to challenge yourself and enjoy the ride! Even if a position seems impossibly difficult, it’s still obtainable. Yoga is about patience and persistence. So never give up, although it may get frustrating and tiring, the practice does wonders for the mind, body, and soul.dont give upinhale exhale

Follow, Follow, Follow!

I came across this blog and chose to review mind-body-connection  because it is similar to my own. The connection between the mind and body is essential, and this blog really has some awesome advice on how to connect the two. I think one think that the writer does very well is gives tons of options on how to cope with different illnesses, mental and physical. I really enjoyed all the photos and videos, in particular.

As previously stated, I was diagnosed in November of 2014 with major depression, mind-body-connection has very unique and helpful advice on how to cope with both anxiety and depression, using yoga and other holistic practices. I enjoyed this blog blog because I was able to learn many new tips and tricks on stress relief and dealing with negative emotions.

I followed this blog from Nicole, because she gives a realistic view from someone who is on a similar path to recovery as me. I understand and relate to those that share similar illnesses, and I respect them. It’s takes courage to admit something so private, and this blog allows the reader to really connect and make sense of their well being.

In Order To Love Another You Must First Love Yourself

Obviously “loving” yourself is easier said than done. At this point in life I’m just discovering who I am. However, I learned that it is completely acceptable to not know exactly who you are. I like to think no one ever really does! The beauty of life, is you can be whomever you choose.

At the young age of 21, I have learned that the most important thing to do, in order to love yourself, is to literally do what you love, and what makes you happy! For me, I enjoy writing poetry, songs, prose, and free verse. I also love playing the piano and learning new songs. Another recent hobby I enjoy, is drawing and sketching. However, the most important to me is exercise, I enjoy all types but I especially enjoy yoga. Practicing yoga allows me to be in the present moment, and accept exactly who I am. It gives me the ability to let go of any negative energy or emotions from the day, and just appreciate myself and the life I’m living.

Finding yourself, and accepting who you are can be a long, challenging, and rigorous process. However, I believe that if you do what you love, this will ultimately lead you to loving yourself. There is no better feeling than the feeling of being accepted. I am still on the path to learn to accept myself, just as I am, in whatever state I may be. This gives me the ability to find my inner passions, and sets me on the right path to learn to love myself, for exactly who I am, including all my flaws. So, do what you love and love what you do, because I think in the end, thats all that really matters.

Take A Break to Meditate

I always thought that the power of mediation was a little exaggerated, and maybe even not true at all. Yet after personally having practiced it, my mind has changed. There are many ways to meditate, different suggestions on how its done, even books that give step-by-step instructions. However, I believe that the most powerful meditation process for me requires a few easy steps.

After a long day of class, studying, and the stresses of being a college student, I like to go into my room, close the door, turn off the lights, put on my favorite music, lay on my back with my arms by my side and my feet splayed out, and simply, breathe. Below is my most practiced position for meditation.

This part of the day allows me to reflect on my actions and the actions of others. I have noticed that after a good 10 minutes or so, my body and mind, together are in a much more relaxed state and I am able to think more rationally and clearly after meditating. Although this is an ancient practice, I believe there is a reason why it is still around. I find myself in my most peaceful and focused state just after meditating.
